Our particle sizing instrumentation is ideal for liquid applications in semiconductor, life sciences, and other industries. In advanced-node CMP applications, the AccuSizer Mini system monitors LPCs to reduce scratch defects caused by the agglomeration of slurry abrasive particles. Automating the monitoring process can lead to the application of more effective solutions, like proper filter selection and system maintenance. In the life sciences, the AccuSizer system is used for a variety of USP tests, formulation, and QC testing. Chemical Mechanical Polishing

In advanced-node CMP applications, scratch defects are often caused by the agglomeration of slurry abrasive particles, that have the potential to become a key factor in process yield performance. Our technology enables customers to perform particle size analysis online and in real time, directly in the fluid stream process. Intervening early prevents costly yield excursions.

Contamination

Our sophisticated, liquid particle counters are ideal in analyzing particulate contamination in various applications. Early contamination detection and intervention help prevent defects, which increases yield and the bottom line.

Emulsions

Droplet size and zeta potential are critical indicators of emulsion stability. The AccuSizer® system is the most sensitive system for detecting tails that indicate poor emulsion stability or formulation. The particle size and zeta potential of the emulsion droplets are important physical characteristics that influence emulsion stability.

Filters

It is well known that the adoption of filtration in sensitive processes can increase efficiency and yield. The AccuSizer® SPOS system is used to help select the right filter for a given process and downstream to monitor filter performance and detect upsets.

Inks and Paints

The AccuSizer® system detects oversize particles in inks and paint. The particle size of pigments used in inks and paints is an important physical characteristic that affects both appearance and functionality. This is particularly true for inks used in inkjet cartridges where large particles could plug the jets and channels.

Isoelectric Point (IEP)

The isoelectric point (IEP) of a dispersion is the pH value where the zeta potential equals zero. This is the condition that is least stable and frequently leads to agglomeration for suspensions and phase separation for emulsions. The Nicomp® DLS system is ideal for determining zeta potential vs. pH.

Liposomes

A liposome is a spherical vesicle having at least one lipid bilayer used for drug delivery. Most liposomes are measured using dynamic light scattering (DLS) technology such as our Nicomp® DLS system. Larger liposomes have been successfully analyzed using our the AccuSizer® SPOS system, which uses single particle optical sizing (SPOS) technology.

Microbubbles

The AccuSizer® SPOS system is the most common instrument used to measure the concentration and size of microbubbles used in a variety of applications including contrast agents and targeted drug delivery.

Nanoparticles

The typical definition of a nanoparticle is a particle with a size between 1-100 nm. The Nicomp® DLS system is used in many industries to measure the size of nanoparticles, both in the lab and online in the process equipment.

Parenteral Drugs

The AccuSizer® system is the most advanced system for performing USP <787>, <788>, <789> testing. The autosampler and microplate reader can automate routine testing. The Nicomp® system is used for USP <729> Method 1 testing.

Proteins

Measure protein size, charge, and aggregation. The Nicomp® DLS system has the sensitivity to measure monomers, dimers, and trimers at small sizes and at low concentration – including lysozyme at 0.1 mg/mL. The AccuSizer® SPOS system is used for USP <787> testing and to study protein aggregation.
